If you’ve been anywhere around McGimsey Scout Park, you’ve seen the much-awaited Teepee renovations happening this past month. Thanks to our friends at Cram Roofing, the cherished park landmarks transformed from failing to fabulous right before our eyes.
The Cram crew removed and disposed of the visible structure, removing the painted hardboard, sub-flashing, and underlayment of each teepee, and refitted them with synthetic underlayment, metal crimp panels, and color-matched cap pieces to create a contemporary look that is sustainable as well.
A great deal of thought and planning went into the project. Roofing material technology has improved substantially since the teepees were originally constructed. Seeing the reason for their disrepair and addressing that as a primary objective, Cram suggested the materials due to their longevity, but didn’t skimp on the beauty. The crimp panels gain measurement to be esthetically pleasing with clean lines and architectural detail resulting in a gorgeous upgrade for the park – and photo ops!
Be a part of McGimsey Scout Park
Now that the construction is complete, we invite you to be part of McGimsey Scout Park in a unique way through our Adopt-A-Teepee opportunity. Embark on your legacy for the next 5-years. Adopting-A-Teepee is a great way to support the park as a family, foundation, or business, or honor a Scouter in memory of a loved one. For a donation of $5,000 toward the project, you not only ensure the continued maintenance of your Teepee of choice but also have a commemoration sign at the Teepee itself for the 5-year term. Donors have found great pride in supporting Scouting in this way, and we know you will too.

Thank you, Cram Roofing, and our Adopt-A-Teepee families for making Scouting happen in San Antonio.
